Alliance AutoGas Spreads to Canada

The Alliance AutoGas network gave word Monday that it’s expanded to international fleets, welcoming the Toronto area’s Caledon Propane as a member.

“Caledon will help fleets in the Canadian Provinces of Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba to reduce both their fuel costs and greenhouse gas emissions by running vehicles on clean, cost-effective propane autogas,” states an Alliance release.

The Alliance “takes the guesswork out of switching to autogas because we coordinate everything for fleets, from vehicle conversions, to fueling solutions, to safety training, and even ongoing technical support,” Caledon VP Hugh Sutherland Jr. says in the Alliance announcement.

He told F&F that like compressed natural gas, propane is benefiting from the shale gas boom, and is allowing North American vehicles to run on fuel that’s required no overseas military spending.

‘The Price of Propane Keeps Going Down’

Caledon provides propane fuel to customers including busy limousine operators at Toronto’s Pearson International airport – hundreds of fill-ups per week – and converts vehicles to propane-gasoline bi-fuel operation using the Alliance’s Prins VSI Prins (Vapor Sequential Injection) system.

Fleets using propane can save $1.50 per gallon on fuel compared to gasoline, the Alliance says. “We’re seeing almost a 60% savings,” says Sutherland.

The Alliance offers financing options allowing for propane conversions with no upfront cost. And according to Sutherland, “The price of propane keeps going down.”
